Listing clipper

Realtor.ca and most listing sites block our servers, so the listing link on the report form often cannot be read and you end up re-typing the details. The clipper fixes that from your own browser: open the listing, click the bookmark, and the page text lands in the report form ready to analyze.

How it works

Drag the button below to your bookmarks bar, once.
Open any listing page in your browser: Realtor.ca, REW, Zolo, a brokerage site, or an MLS sheet.
Click the bookmark. It reads the page you are looking at and opens the report form with the listing link and text filled in.
Check the details, add the documents, and press Analyze.

What it does and does not do

It reads only the page you are already looking at, in your browser, and only when you click it. Nothing is sent anywhere until you press Analyze on the report form, and then only the listing text travels, never the page itself.

It does not log in to anything, does not crawl, and does not run in the background. If a listing needs your login to view, you are the one viewing it; DeedRead never sees your credentials.

The clipped text is carried in the part of the web address after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server. The report form reads it and then removes it from the address bar.

Very long pages are shortened to fit the address limit browsers impose. The form tells you when that happened.

If dragging does not work

Some browsers block dragging a link to the bookmarks bar. Create a new bookmark by hand, name it whatever you like, and paste the code below as its address.

On a phone or tablet

Bookmarklets are a desktop habit, but Safari on iPhone and iPad can run one: bookmark any page, then edit that bookmark and replace its address with the code above. Tap it while viewing a listing. Chrome on Android runs one if you save it as a bookmark and then type its name in the address bar. Other mobile browsers vary; the paste field on the report form always works.

If the clip comes back nearly empty

Some sites draw the listing only after their scripts finish. Scroll the listing into view, wait a moment, and click again, or copy the text by hand into the paste field on the report form.
